Free Auslan course for beginners: Starting 2 Sept 2020

Have you always wanted to learn Auslan (Australian Sign Language) but were too busy, or you simply just want to practice your signs? Living & Learning Nillumbik is hosting an informal and relaxed online course aimed at beginners and intermediate level students who want to brush up on their skills. We will go through some basic conversational signs, practice signs in pairs, what Auslan is and gain tips on communicating using sign language.
Philip Waters is a profoundly Deaf person living locally in Eltham and Auslan is his first language.

Over six sessions, the tutor will cover basic topics such as:

  • Background information on the Deaf Community and Culture
  • Fingerspelling exercises
  • Basic Auslan signs for introductions, greetings, and numbers
  • Communication strategies and expressions
