Advocacy

At Banyule Youth Services, a large part of our role involves advocating for the needs, rights and wellbeing of young people.  We do this by working with other Banyule Council departments, youth and community service groups in the local area and by supporting bodies such as YACVic (the Youth Affairs Coalition of Victoria – https://www.yacvic.org.au/).

We hope to see young people be given every opportunity they can to succeed, learn, participate and be active members of their community.

We are a proud member of the Banyule Nillumbik Youth Services Executive Committee.  Featuring representation from all key services in our region, the BNYSN group get together once per month to discuss the top issues facing young people and develop plans to address them so that young people can get the best possible outcomes.  As part of this we also have the Banyule Nillumbik Youth Services Network, which sees youth workers, community workers and school staff from throughout the local area come together 6 times per year for FREE training opportunities and a chance to network with other organisations.

If you are interested in being part of either the BNYSN Executive Committee, or in attending the BNYSN Network Meetings then please contact us on 9457 9855 or banyuleyouth@banyule.vic.gov.au
