Queer Sphere 2015

Queer Sphere is a collective of young adults 16 – 24 years from the Banyule area. We are passionate about supporting diversity and promoting inclusion within our community. We take an active role in promoting inclusion and campaigning for the rights of the LGBTI community, through having a presence at events, health promotion and engaging with local secondary schools to create safe and inclusive environments.

We are always looking for interested young people to get involved!

Free travel at Christmas and changes to public transport fares in 2015

Free travel at Christmas and changes to public transport fares in 2015

On Christmas Day, travel on trains, trams and buses will be free, allowing Victorians to share the holiday spirit with their family and friends.

Then from 6pm on New Year’s Eve until 6am on New Year’s Day you will also be able to travel on public transport for free. Public transport will run all night in metropolitan Melbourne to help you see in the New Year celebrations.

From 1 January 2015, there will be some fare changes to Victoria’s public transport system.

An annual fare rise will be implemented in the new year to help us continue to improve the public transport network.

A new Free Tram Zone will make getting around the Melbourne CBD and Docklands more affordable than ever.

Travel on trams within this zone will be free and you do not need to touch on your myki. However, if your journey starts or finishes outside the boundaries of the Free Tram Zone, you must touch on your myki in the normal way to make sure you have a valid ticket.

From 1 January 2015 you will also be able to travel on trains, trams and buses across Zone 1 + 2 for the price of a Zone 1 fare.

For customers travelling with a myki pass, Zone 1 passes will no longer be sold after 1 January 2015. Instead you will be able to purchase a Zone 1+2 myki pass at no extra cost, which will cover all your travel across zones 1 and 2.

Attention student/aspiring photographers!

Attention student/aspiring photographers!

YACVic is looking to work with a young person (up to 25 years old) currently studying or aspiring to study photography to help work on imagery for our new brand.

The collaboration would be done on a volunteer basis, but of course your work would find a wide audience around the youth sector, and could be great for your portfolio if you are looking to build it up.

We are particularly interested in people who have done portraiture or are interested in doing portraiture. It would help if you were Melbourne based, or willing to travel to Melbourne.

Get in touch with a little bit about yourself and some examples of your work by emailing communications@yacvic.org.au by January 2nd, 2015.
