National Ride2School Day

On Friday 13 March 2015  we'll be celebrating the ninth National Ride2School Day event, where over 300,000 Australian students, just like yours, will ride, walk, scoot or skate to school.

So once again, we're inviting all schools to re-live the fun and continue to build a happy and healthy school community by joining in the celebrations. Registrations for National Ride2School Day are open, so register your school today to ensure you receive your school pack by early term one. The school pack will include a letter confirming your schools participation, posters and stickers to help you celebrate this big day. Darebin Libraries’ Photography Competition is open to Darebin residents or Darebin Libraries members aged 13-18. The theme is ‘It starts with us’. The competition runs from 9 February to 22 March 2015

Banyule Volunteer and Citizen of the Year Awards

Nominations for the 2015 Banyule Volunteer and Citizen of the Year Awards are now open!

Council calling for nominations for volunteers in the follow categories:

  • Individual Volunteer Award
  • Life Time Achievement (20+ years of volunteer experience)
  • Young Volunteer Award (for individuals aged 12-25 as of 1st January of Awards year)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Volunteer Award (for individuals)
  • Multicultural Community Volunteer (for individuals that have enhanced multiculturalism and promoted harmony in Banyule)
  • Community Group Award - groups/schools/organisations
  • Good Neighbour Award

As well as the Banyule Citizen of the Year.

Jet Start Program - apply today!

Our Jets program is giving young local singers and musicians a chance to kick start their career in 2015! We are looking for the most promising local singers and musicians in the genre of funk and soul, who will be judged by a panel of young people from our FReeZA and Jets Crew Members programs, assisted by Jets staff.

The winners will work with a professional soul and funk super band to rehearse a song to perform at Banyule’s major music event Twilight Sounds on Saturday 21 March 2015.

Entrants will be judged on a range of categories including skill level, presentation, dedication to a musical career and commercial potential. Rehearsals for the winning performers will be held on a range of weeknights during February and early March at Jets,

2/24 The Concord, Bundoora.
