Darebin - After School Adventure Program

The ASAP programs commences weekly on a Tuesday, commencing the 21st April 2015, for the duration of 7 weeks.
Participants are to meet at the Preston Town Hall, Gower St, Preston, at 4pm each week and will be dropped off home between approximately 7.30-8.30pm.

Further information on the program can be found on the attached flyer. A few activities to name are Latitude – trampoline fun, Food Fiesta, Movie Madness, Karaoke fun and more! Finalized details of the activities will be given to registered participants during the program.

Eligibility Requirements

The Darebin Youth Services After School Adventure Program is largely subsidised by the government and is aimed at young people who have few or no opportunities to fund their own activities. Therefore priority is given to:

  • School & agency referrals
  • Young people & families with a health care card
  • Young people that have not attended the program before

Am I eligible?

  • You must be aged 12-16 years
  • You must live within the City of Darebin

Youth Action Group (YAG)

Melbourne City Mission is establishing a Youth Action Group (YAG), comprising 12 future young leaders aged 18-25 years who want to make a difference in the City of Melbourne.  

Members of the YAG will work collaboratively with other young people to create and deliver two campaigns that champion the voice and accomplishments of Melbourne’s young people.
The young people chosen for the YAG will receive training in media, social media/digital campaigning, events management and advocacy, and have the opportunity to meet leaders and experts from different fields.

Banyule City Council Volunteer Celebration

Bookings are now open for the 2015 Volunteer Celebration on Thursday 14th May in The Great Hall, The Centre Ivanhoe from 6.30pm

This is an opportunity for Council to recognise & thank volunteers for their contribution to the Banyule Community.

Guests will enjoy drinks on arrival, 3 course meal & entertainment by Brian Nankervis (of Rockwiz fame) and Matt Hetherington.

Tickets are $15 (incl. GST) per head, & can be booked via Councils website

National Ride2School Day

On Friday 13 March 2015  we'll be celebrating the ninth National Ride2School Day event, where over 300,000 Australian students, just like yours, will ride, walk, scoot or skate to school.

So once again, we're inviting all schools to re-live the fun and continue to build a happy and healthy school community by joining in the celebrations. Registrations for National Ride2School Day are open, so register your school today to ensure you receive your school pack by early term one. The school pack will include a letter confirming your schools participation, posters and stickers to help you celebrate this big day. Darebin Libraries’ Photography Competition is open to Darebin residents or Darebin Libraries members aged 13-18. The theme is ‘It starts with us’. The competition runs from 9 February to 22 March 2015

Banyule Volunteer and Citizen of the Year Awards

Nominations for the 2015 Banyule Volunteer and Citizen of the Year Awards are now open!

Council calling for nominations for volunteers in the follow categories:

  • Individual Volunteer Award
  • Life Time Achievement (20+ years of volunteer experience)
  • Young Volunteer Award (for individuals aged 12-25 as of 1st January of Awards year)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Volunteer Award (for individuals)
  • Multicultural Community Volunteer (for individuals that have enhanced multiculturalism and promoted harmony in Banyule)
  • Community Group Award - groups/schools/organisations
  • Good Neighbour Award

As well as the Banyule Citizen of the Year.
