Voices for Change (VFC) is a project which works with young people aged 18-28 from Kurdish, Somali and Iraqi backgrounds. It will seek to empower them with the knowledge, skills and resources to influence and mentor other young people in their community to help them formulate a clearer purpose and direction for their future.

Grants to run an activity on International Day of People with a Disability

Applications are now open for International Day of People with a Disability MetroAccess mini-grant.
Community groups and organisations are encouraged to apply for a grant to assist them to fund an inclusive community activity during the week of 29th November - 5th December 2010.
Activities should engage the broader Banyule community rather than just targeting the existing membership and should celebrate inclusive communities: including disability, cultural and linguistic diversity, gender, religious diversity and more.

The Firey Youth Mentoring Program is a partnership between MacKillop Family Services and The Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board (MFB) and aims to assist young males and females from Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds to build links with firefighters and, in so doing, provide them with an opportunity to explore a career in the fire service.   What is mentoring?  The Firey Youth Mentoring Program can assist you if you are:

Under 25 and doing great things? Nominate for the Young People's Human Rights Medal!

The Australian Human Rights Commission is encouraging young people (aged 25 years and under) who have made an outstanding contribution to advancing human rights in Australia, to nominate for the Young People's Human Rights Medal.
Nominations close at 5pm on Monday, 4 October, 2010. Winners will be presented with their Medals and Awards at a ceremony to be held on Human Rights Day, Friday, 10 December 2010 at the Sheraton on the Park Hotel in Sydney.

Ship for World Youth - Applications Open

Are you 18-30 years old, passionate about raising cultural awareness, promoting international understanding and encouraging youth development. Are you interested in Japan? Are you keen to represent young Australians?
Australia has been selected as one of 13 countries to particiapte in SWY23 (The 23rd Ship for World Youth Program). It will run from Jan 11 to March 3 2011.
The Japanese government are calling for applications from young Australians to be one of 11 to represent our country on the program.
